Who We Are

Every color has a story, every thread has a purpose, & every concept has an execution
The BRAND

J\JAQ is a modern fashion house comprised of one designer who hand produces collections for men and women, each expressing its own concepts.  From pattern to cut and sew, our artist takes great care to create quality and original garments that allow for a custom look and feel.  Our designs are a mix of modern edge and timeless style with functional utility at the core.  Clean lines and the juxtaposition of the traditional and rebellious is what inspires us most.  Each of our hand made pieces makes a statement that can be styled in a variety of ways by the wearer. We encourage our clients to be creative by styling their J\JAQ looks across our different collections.  Our garments always give you the confidence to be uniquely you by taking on your day with success and style.  We keep you timeless yet edgy in the ever-changing world of fashion by staying true to you and our vision.

Jenae Ewaleifoh

CEO, CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Jenae was born in western Pennsylvania and had a fabulous childhood playing in the woods, making art, and dancing.  Growing up, Jenae never really fit in to any mold but knew she would always have her art to define her.  In 2007, she left her hometown for Baltimore, MD to later receive her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) with a major in Fiber Art and Experimental Fashion.  While at MICA she realized her love for styling and making clothing – from there her own fashion label, J\JAQ, was born. In her sophomore year, Jenae was fortunate to stumble into a local shop, The Doll House Boutique, and found herself a job as a seamstress for the owner and designer.  After about two years she was promoted to head designer and was in charge of all the production, alterations, and studio organization for the boutique.  During her 6 years in Baltimore she enjoyed school, the city, and participated as a designer in a number of fashion shows – in and outside of MICA.  Jenae worked for 4.5 years at The Doll House Boutique until her move to Chicago, IL with her husband – whom she met in 2008.

While in Chicago, Jenae worked at several luxury fashion brands learning more each day about the fashion industry.  In her free time she worked on her own collections and was invited to participate in multiple fashion showcases around Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO.  Jenae and her husband enjoyed their time in Chicago and moved to Boston, MA in 2019. With many changes happening and the ever-present support of her husband, family, and friends, Jenae decided it was time to pursue her dreams and turn her fashion label, J\JAQ, into her own company.

Materials

Every color has a story, every thread has a purpose, and every concept has an execution. Here at J\JAQ, our designer carefully and deliberately finds the materials that we use in making each item. We believe that many different types of materials have many purposes – we are particular in choosing the right fiber and have reason for it. Depending on the collection, we have different materials we use in communicating the vision of the concept. For example, the staple materials we work with in creating Identity+ collection are mostly up-cycled clothing, denim, and recycled scrap leather. When constructing with leather and fur, we only use genuine materials, as faux leather and fur only adds to plastic and unnatural waste in our environment. We also like to work with softer materials without so much structure such as silk, cotton, sheer fabrics, and more. We strive to be earth-conscious, as we are not blind to negative human impact on our shared environment. If you have any questions or comments about the materials we use, please contact us or visit our collections page for more information.
